National Art Honor Society: Ms. Singel – Room 54
The National Art Honor Society is for 10th – 12th graders who have shown great ability and genuine interest in art. It’s purpose is to strengthen the skills of members in all art forms and raise awareness of art education. NAHS also hosts the annual Art Extravaganza auction, giving all art students the opportunity to sell their work.
National Math Honor Society: Mr. Daly Room 242
National Math Honor Society is for students who have shown academic excellence in their previous and current math classes. Students in NMHS must maintain an B+ in their math class, so they are a good resource as math tutors to all AHS students. National Math Honor Society also hosts the annual Pi Day celebration on March 14th where all students meet in the breezeway to eat pie.
National Beta Club: Ms. Perry and Mr. Lennon small gym
The National Beta Club is an organization that recognizes academic achievement, leadership skills, and good character of high school students.
National Honor Society: Mrs. Peters rm 255
The NHS is a higher excellence society that serves to honor students that have shown excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Most students at AHS will apply to NHS during their junior year.
Science National Honor Society: Mrs. Brown and Mr. Wayne 257
SNHS encourages and recognizes scientific thought and intelligence of high school students. They aim to advance students knowledge in the scientific fields and communicate with the science community.
Spanish Honor Society: Ms. Walker rm 129
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is for students who have shown interest and achievement in their high school Spanish or Portuguese language classes. At AHS, you must be in Spanish level 4 or higher to be a member and have maintained an A throughout your Spanish language classes. The goal of SHH is to promote continuing interest and learning of Spanish and Portuguese societies.
Tri M: Ms. Morris rm 69
Tri-M honor society recognizes students who excel in either band, choir, or orchestra and who maintain an A in all of their music classes at Albemarle.
Thespian: Ms. Cunningham – auditorium
The Thespian honor society is for students who actively participate in Albemarle’s drama department. The society celebrates its members’ commitment to theater and organizes the main events of the department.
English: Ms. Aglio rm 36
The English honor society recognizes and celebrates students who excel in their English classes and provides service opportunities for its members.
French: Ms. Lloyd rm 125
The French honor society celebrates students who excel in their French classes and provides opportunities to enhance French skills and participate in community service. The French honor society annually hosts a French film night open to all Albemarle students.
German: Ms. Trice rm 121
The German honor society recognizes students who excel in their German classes and provides out of class opportunities to enhance German skills and perform community service.
Quill and Scroll: Ms. Wood rm 228
The Quill and Scroll honor society recognizes students’ achievements in either journalism, yearbook, or literary magazine in addition to their academic success.
