AHS is hosting lots of exciting activities for Mid-March from musical performances to eating cake in the breezeway! Here’s what’s happening this week:
March 12: Miracle Marathon
From 6:30-9 p.m., AHS will host The Miracle Marathon at the track. The Miracle Marathon is a relay-style marathon to raise money for Bennett’s Village, a non-profit trying to build an all-abilities playground. Organized by senior Maddie Gypson, the marathon will have each participant run 200m, switching off until they run the total marathon length of 26 miles.
There are currently 23 runners signed up, but Gypson is hoping for at least 100. If you’d like to sign up, visit the Miracle Marathon Sign-Up Genius.
March 14: Pi Day
Free pie will be provided by Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) during both lunches in the lower cafeteria.
March 15: AHS 70th Anniversary
In honor of the 70th anniversary of Albemarle High School, the PTSO, with the help of SCA, will be providing free cake during both lunches for everyone!
March 17: Swing Into Spring
The AHS jazz band will be performing at the Paramount at 7 p.m. to raise money for a local non-profit, “City of Promise.” City of Promise’s goal is to help families living below the poverty level. If you’d like to support the jazz band and City of Promise visit the Albemarle High School Jazz Benefit Concert website.
