New Teacher Roundup ’25-’26

Who’s new around A-Town?
New Teacher Roundup '25-'26
This year’s questions were:

1.) What are you teaching this year?

2.) How long have you been teaching?

3.) What is one personal or professional goal you have for the year?

4.) What is one fun or interesting fact about yourself?

2.) “This is my 16th year teaching…I started in Virginia, and then we moved out west to Wyoming and Montana, and then we were in Texas, most recently for four years. So I’ve taught at junior high, high school, community college, online, just various different things as we’ve moved different places.”

3.) “This year, I want to develop relationships with my students and kind of get back into the Virginia standards and how that works from out of state.”

4.) “A fun fact is that I was born in Charlottesville, and so was my oldest, but we’ve only ever lived here for a couple years.”

3.) “Professionally, I want to really collaborate with my other science teachers and my co-teacher and I want to feel comfortable and capable teaching in a new state. Virginia is similar to California in a lot of ways, and it’s familiar to me since I grew up here, but it’s definitely different in some ways as well. So that would be my professional goal, to really collaborate well with my coworkers and do the most that I can for my students. My personal goal would be to hike in Shenandoah National Park once a month at least. Not huge hikes, but like, a couple miles at a time.

It was seven o’clock in the morning, and he was buying business books. And the funny part about it is that I didn’t follow basketball at the time, so I didn’t even know it was Kobe Bryant until after he was done checking out. I was his cashier, and then the manager came, and she was like ‘Oh, that was Kobe Bryant,’ but apparently he shopped there buying business books and stuff pretty often.”
