- 13th year theaching. Previously at Wando High School, in Charleston, South Carolina.
- “Well, my parents were both teachers, so I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, we say. I’ve had really profound experiences growing up in Virginia, going to all these different historical sites. But above all, I’ve seen the relevance of the past to our present world. There are many connections there. And the past is very much my passion, and I love being able to pass on a fraction of my passion to the younger generation.”

- “The house that I live in is the house where Albemarle County was established. My house was the original courthouse for Albemarle County. So when the county was created, it was in my living room. Peter Jefferson, the father of Thomas Jefferson, was signing documents, creating the county right where my couch is.”
