Through the past 50 years, about $4.5 billion has been spent by companies on advertising during the Super bowl, according to “adage.com.” The average cost for a commercial spot that aired during Super Bowl 50 is $4.8 million.

 

Pepsi sponsored the halftime show this year, and had done so now for the past four years. Skittles featured Steven Tyler, the former Aerosmith rock star, in one of their commercials that aired during the Super Bowl. Mountain Dew Kickstart aired 5 commercials during the Super Bowl, with a unique twist that include a “PuppyMonkeyBaby” commercial. These are the top 5 most eye catching advertisements that aired during Super Bowl 50.

1.“Puppymonkeybaby” by Mountain Dew

This commercial has a unique and and a rather unusual theme. It is about a creature called the “Puppymonkeybaby”, that repeatedly says “Puppymonkeybaby” while giving people Mountain Dew Kickstart. It can make some people laugh, though it is mainly supposed to be an eye catcher for the audience.

2. “Swipe for Doritos” by Doritos

This commercial is relatable to people who are involved in online dating. It’s about a man who struggles to search for the perfect woman through online dating, but he would really rather have a bag of Doritos.

3. “The Portrait” by Skittles

This commercial features Steven Tyler, who played in the band Aerosmith. This celebrity endorsement ad is mixed with humor and singing. It’s about Steven Tyler who has a portrait made of Skittles presented to him. Anybody who likes classic rock and the high-key singing Steven Tyler will enjoy this commercial.

4. “Motocross Jump” by Butterfinger

This commercial definitely lives up to Butterfinger’s “Bolder than Bold” slogan. From flying over a pool of robotic piranhas on a motocross bike to singing a duet while taking profile pictures, this commercial is crazy and random all the way through the 30 seconds.

5. “Marilyn” by Snickers

This commercial includes the classic Snickers slogan “You’re not you when you’re hungry,” It stars Marilyn Monroe, the famous american actress. The commercial is cleverly comical. It is about Marilyn Monroe who is not acting as her normal self during a movie shoot, and a director gives her a Snickers bar to cheer her up.
