WPAT News is live-streaming a commentary on the Albemarle vs Charlottesville High School basketball game tonight. Seniors Jonathan Danilich, Jake Elliott, and Grayson Heflin will be commentating.

“It’s something that’s never been done before,” Danilich said. “The idea was always there but this year we really worked towards it.”

“We basically said this year we are going to suck it up and do it,” Danilich said, “and I’m really glad we did.”

Danilich and Elliott have always wanted to be sports commentators and wanted to get experience before pursuing their dream in college.

“I commentate when I play Madden,” Elliott said.

They did test broadcasts at two practices and at the game on Jan. 12. At the first test broadcast, they discovered that none of their wires worked and had to rewire everything.

The broadcast will livestream from the media booth in the Albemarle gym. Students will be able to tune in on the WPAT YouTube channel.

The game will begin at 6:00, starting with the AHS girls’ team vs CHS. The boys’ game will begin at 7:30. At halftime of the boys game, the AHS girls’ soccer team will be having their ring ceremony.
