“I am a career switcher… when President Casteen, the former UVA president, said that ‘if kids don’t pass algebra, they don’t go on to have professional careers,’ in his farewell speech, I decided I could do something about that. Once I began working as a teacher, I fell in love with working with special education students. I really wanted to help students with exceptional abilities get the attention they deserve in the school.”
