Special Education Teacher Jenn Franklin

  1. Special Education teacher for biology and English 9 and 10 students.
  2. First year teaching.
  3. “I’ve worked with young people and students for many, many years. I worked at a boarding school for a number of years — I wasn’t a teacher, but I was a staff there — and I really loved that. That, and just being friends with students who struggled academically, and being able to help them, I think that inspired me to get my degree in teaching.”
  4. “Let’s go with Wednesday. This is a strange analogy, but I like mountaintops and Wednesday’s Hump Day — you’re at the top and working your way down for the rest of the week. It’s a good middle day.”
  5. “I’m an outdoors girl, so I love being outside, and that’s why winter is kind of sad to me. I like to be outside kayaking, hiking, camping, and doing all those nature things. Before I came here, I worked at the Shenandoah National Park. I did that for about seven or eight seasons, so I actually lived and worked up there, and that was a really cool experience.”
