“I started off the season injured and not being able to run at all. And then as the season went on I was able to start run-walking. Towards the end of the season, I was able to start running a decent amount of mileage. And then all of the sudden, I had a huge breakthrough and was able to start running great times, and I got to race on the state champ team and we went on to win the championship. What helped me stay motivated was seeing every single day as a new opportunity to get better. It also helps when you have friends beside you, doing all the same things as you are and working for the same goal, and that’s to be better than you were the day before.”
