The African-American Scholars Alliance Club visited the UVA School of Law on Nov. 2.
The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) hosted the students. Working with the BLSA made the trip more meaningful, “by allowing them to see and interact with successful college students that look just like them,” club founder and special education teacher Wendell Green said.
The club had met with a few students from the UVA Street Law class prior to the trip. Law student and BLSA member Sean Suber helped organize the trip along with Green.
Trustees from the Law School were so impressed with AASA that they addressed the students and complimented them on their behavior, appearance, and attentiveness, according to Green.
Green and business teacher Wes Bellamy founded the club this year in order to provide mentorship and academic enrichment that will allow young men and women to maximize their potential as students and individuals.
